a new opinion in Audio / HiFis about Apple iPod nano (3G) 8 GB

I was given this Ipod by my sister as she had upgraded to an Ipod Touch. I had yet to buy any form of Ipod and was looking into getting an Ipod touch also but I glady accepted this one as I was given it for free.

Let me tell you, this Ipod is excellent! Its small size makes it ideal for the everyday music listener to carry around in their pocket. I used it day in and day out and it was never a pain to carry around, in fact I possitively enjoyed the fact I had this device on me. I could now listen to music without the burden of lugging around my chunky walkman I had been using up to this point.

My next favourite feature is the easy to use control circle. It is simple and easy to use and allows the user to select tracks, albums or artists at one easy swipe. It can also be used for volume controls.

The sound quality is good. It's not amazing but it is perfectly adequate enough for the every day music fan although those who are music enthusiasts may wish for a better quality sound.

The 8 gig memory is perfect for someone who only wants to store about 800 songs or so. It is nothing to shout about though if you have thousands of songs as they wont all fit.

The battery life is great when you first get it. It wil last for 3 or 4 days of use assuming you use it four 2-3 hours a day. However, after a couple of months this will drop to about 2-3 days. This happened to me after using mine on a day to day basis. I found that this was not much of an issue as the charge time only took about 4 hours which is great because you can just charge your ipod over night.

The use of Itunes with this Ipod was average. Downloading Itunes onto your computer depends on the speed of you computer. Transfering songs onto the Ipod is quite slow though. I'm talking 2-3 minutes per album which can be frustrating if you with to download 5 or 6 albums.

To conclude, I would suggest this Ipod to any music fan who liked to listen on a daily basis. However, if you are a serious fan who wants to store lots of songs, you may wish to go for something with a larger memory!
