Everything about our program is designed with heart patients and their families in mind. Physicians and nurses are achieving some of the best patient outcomes in America, and our heart program is widely known for introducing new cardiac procedures and mastering the latest invasive and non-invasive techniques. ??Our CVICU is a 16-bed, all private room intensive care unit, catering to the priority care of Post-Cardiothoracic Surgery patients.? Post Open Heart Recovery Patients arrive directly from the CVOR to be recovered until stable for the Cardiothoracic Step-down beds within the same unit.

• Number of Rooms:? 16
• Skill Mix:? All RN's , CCRN's
• Types of patients:? Open Heart, Thoracic Surgical, Vascular Surgical, Cardiac Cath, Impella devices, and Induced Hypothermia patients
• Major Equipment Used: Phillips monitors, Standard Critical care equipment, Swans, IABP, CRRT
• Special Certifications Needed:? BLS, ACLS, NIH
• Special Skills or Competencies Needed:? Must have completed a formal Critical Care training course in the past and prefer at least 1-2 years of hands on critical care experience. Prior CVICU experience preferred.
• Schedules:? 12-hour shifts (7-7);? Full Time is considered 36 hours per week, including every other weekend. Self scheduling is done in all units.
• Dress Code:? RN's wear Royal Blue. (Individual provides their own)
• Designated Charge Nurse/Clinical Coordinator who may take a patient when needed.
• Complete computerized charting for patient assessment and care documentation; Iatrics Flow Charting
• Electronic medication administration record (eMAR) is used for the delivery of all medications provided to patients?

Qualifications

• Current licensure as an RN in the State of Florida.
• Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider and ACLS through the American Heart Association.
• Prior Nursing experience in a critical care setting preferred.?
• Completion of a prior formal critical care internship training program preferred.
• Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
