Golf outing in memory of crash victim

GREEN BAY - A golf outing in Green Bay went to the dogs.

Nearly 150 golfers hit the links at the Woods Golf Course Saturday.

More than $8,000 dollars was raised at the event.

That money will be donated to the Bay Area Humane Society in memory of a former volunteer, Paige Derenne.

Derenne was a Preble student killed in a car accident in March.

Her father was employed with Imperial Supplies. The company organized the fundraiser.

"We wanted to do something good. Put on a good event that everybody would have a good time, enjoy themselves, and then continue on in hopes of donating to other causes," said Jason Bergstrom with Imperial Supplies.

"This got us out of our normal reach. Helped us reach new audiences, and hopefully it will increase awareness of the humane society, and bring in some great revenue," said Karen DeBaker with the Bay Area Humane Society.

The golf outing was the third largest fundraiser ever held for the humane society.
